Even North Korea deserves a game…I think
Have video games gone too far? Have we tapped into the deepest regions in order to get more distinct visual novel plots? The developer DEVGRU-P doesn’t seem to think so, as after completing the tank dating simulator title Panzermadels, they have decided to group together to create a visual novel based off of a North American soldier going on leave after fighting in Afghanistan, only to discover that he has accidentally arrived in the tyrant-run country of North Korea.
Titled Go! Go! Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, this story-based sim is aiming to have multiple endings to the probably-offensive game, as well as having a few lovely ladies to try and romance. The Kickstarter is looking for $4000, and is just over halfway there, with $2200 going towards creating this…unique game. Some of the people working on this game includes people who have worked on dating-sim puzzler HuniePop and the anime Gurren Lagann, with what the developers say will be “One of the best looking English Language visual novels on the market.”
If you are looking to give some of your hard-earned money for Go! Go! Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea, you can decide from a variety of Pledge rewards from the developers. The main game will only cost $10, but if you want to donate a bit more you can receive a physical CD of the game’s soundtrack for $45, and if you donate $80, you can get both a poster and the CD.
As of this writing, Go! Go! Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has 19 days to go, and with your help, we can all play in a very fictionalized version of North Korea and try to date without being shot! Right now, the goal for Go! Go! People’s Republic of Korea is for the game to be released on Steam Greenlight, though the developers say that they will find alternate sources should the game fall through.
