Ultimate Excellence is in Winning Without Even Fighting.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII

We still have a long wait until the game is released, but Koei Tecmo has released three new videos concerning the latest entry in the RoTK series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII. Specifically, two of these videos detail two features: The Bond System and Civic Development. The third is a trailer that shows all the other options you have at your disposal in action.

First, here’s the catch-all trailer:

The other two trailers involve specific gameplay styles: Bonds and Civic Development. With the Bond system, players can see their character’s relationship with other figures through an in-game chart, which they can access to determine their next move. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, Bonds can be gained through various means, and it’s important to keep your bonds with influential people high, especially when trying to curry favor or get some assistant to win a particularly tricky battle. Also, the higher the bond with certain leaders, the better you will do during debates, which can swing certain lords to your side if your cards are played right.

For an example of this in action, take a look at this trailer below:

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, Civic Development is a bit of a twist on the domestic strategies known to veterans of the series. You can build assets, boost your economy, earn traits for your cities, and boost morale for your soldiers. In keeping your territory strong and your people well-fed, your army will be better prepared for battle. You can also build alliances with other lords, allowing you to either have a leg up over the competition, or match strength with a particularly pesky foe.

Check out the trailer below to see how it will look in-game:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII will be available for PC and PS4 on July 5, 2016.
