Long awaited Neo Geo shooter showcased in lengthy new trailer, homecart pre-orders open to boost development budget
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen much on Kraut Buster, the upcoming, Metal Slug-inspired run-and-gun shooter for the Neo Geo. However, developer NGDEVTEAM today released a lengthy new gameplay trailer for the game, giving fans of SNK’s classic console plenty of reasons to be excited about this love letter to one of the system’s most celebrated series.
The trailer, which clocks in at just over seven minutes, showcases many of Kraut Buster’s locales. These environments look like they could have been lifted from any of SNK’s previous Metal Slug games. These bustling battlefields include darkened industrial areas, secret bio-weapons labs, and plenty of factories teeming with evil Nazi soldiers, attack dogs, and towering mechanized enemies. We even get a look at a few Slug-inspired mechs you can can control during various points of the game to give the player an edge during the game’s more frantic encounters.

While no release date has yet been confirmed for the title, which was announced early last year, it seems progress has been moving ahead despite some setbacks. In an open letter to fans, NGDEVTEAM said “Sorry for the long time. But it’s the first time and maybe the last time we create a project like this. So we want to put everything in that we can. Currently Kraut Buster has no release date, but a release in the late 1st/early 2nd quarter of 2017 seems realistic.”
In an effort to boost funding for the game, the developer has once again opened pre-orders for the Neo Geo AES version of the game. As you probably already guessed, it’s not cheap – Kraut Buster‘s homecart release will set you back a cool 429 Euros. If you’ve got the money to burn, you can pre-order the game now from the developer’s official online store.
