Yes, you may begin making Yu-Gi-Oh jokes now.

At Microsoft’s E3 conference today, CD Projekt Red wandered onstage, immediately exciting fans. While those hoping for news about their Cyberpunk project walked away disappointed, those with a passionate hankering for virtual card games and two-sworded jerks had a lot to be excited about. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is coming to Xbox One as a standalone virtual card game this September, with a Playstation 4 release at a later date.

The way the Gwent game will work sounds similar to Hearthstone. The base game will be free-to-play with optional purchases, and has currently only been confirmed for Xbox One and Playstation 4, but an iOS/Android version may be coming further on. The card game, which first appeared in The WItcher III, will function the same as it did there, but with further expansions fleshing out the core concept and creating new layers of depth over time.
