Ron Gilbert’s Thimbleweed Park Gets New Teaser Trailer

Thimbleweed Park gets tantalizing new teaser trailer, microwaved hamsters not included

Thimbleweed Park

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Thimbleweed Park since it was first announced last year. Created by Maniac Mansion creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, the game looks to be a loving and nostalgic nod to both LucasArts’ classic point-and-click titles with a healthy dose of X-Files-inspired weirdness thrown in for good measure.

While we hadn’t seen much of anything new from the game in recent months, Ron Gilbert today released a new teaser trailer, offering a fresh look at what we can expect from the Thimbleweed Park when it releases next year. You can check it out for yourself below:

In case you haven’t been following the game since it was first announced, here’s a quick rundown on how the story begins:

When Special Agent Ray arrived in Thimbleweed Park, she immediately had doubts the dead body in the river would suit her needs. Stuck in the past, the small, strange town stunk of a desperate longing to be what it once was. And yet, as Agent Ray is about to discover, Thimbleweed Park is a dangerous, mysterious, and unexpected place with much more to hide than a bloated, pixelated corpse — a victim of death come too soon.

Thimbleweed Park is slated to release on the Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android in early 2017.

As a longtime fan of LucasArts’ classic point-and-click adventures, I certainly can’t wait to get my hands on this one. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to binge on some Day of the Tentacle Remastered until next year rolls around…
