The Wild, Wild West has never looked so two-dimensional
Developer Asymmetric has officially unveiled today their upcoming title, West of Loathing, on Steam Greenlight.
A stick figure-themed action RPG with a large infusion of comedy, West of Loathing features a healthy dose of adventure and gameplay that is “kind of like Skyrim, but with big hats and canned beans instead of glass armor and cheese wheels.” Players are able to choose from one of three character classes, Cow Puncher, Beanslinger, or Snake Oiler as they explore the many exciting and perilous locations that the West has to offer from spooky cemeteries to less-than-reputable saloons. While the promise of fame and fortune may guide those who seek it, the Wild West is a dangerous place where no one is truly safe from harm… or awful jokes.
West of Loathing is a very loose spin-off from Asymmetric’s The Kingdom of Loathing, a similarly tongue-in-cheec stick man-themed MMORPG that originally debuted all the way back in 2003, and proudly proclaims that it has “amused and traumatized” over 2 million players to this day. Despite any connection that the two games may have, however, West of Loathing is set up to be completely standalone and single-player.
West of Loathing is planned for release sometime in 2017, and will be available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS.
