Resident Evil’s Jill and Chris look great in 16-bits
Survival Horror games are great and all, but sometimes it’s nice to just ditch the tension and go back to the tried-and-true method of cracking some skulls. DeviantArt user Juniorbunny understands this dilemma, and decided to put his considerable talents on display in a recent piece, rendering a scene from the original Resident Evil as a classic arcade beat-’em-up in stunning 16-bit glory.
Done in the style of Capcom’s CPS2-powered arcade brawlers such as Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Battle Circuit, this nostalgic tribute to the debut PlayStation and Saturn classic showcases Resident Evil’s leading zombie-killers, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in the iconic Spencer Mansion as they fight off a zombie. I wonder if that’s the Shield Key lying on the floor behind the pair of S.T.A.R.S. operatives?
While we know it’ll likely never happen, here’s hoping this awesome homage to the pioneering horror title is enough to inspire Capcom to get to work on bringing a similar release to PSN, the Xbox Games Store and Steam!
