NIS America today confirmed that Experience’s dungeon-crawling adventure Stranger of Sword City will be making its way to Steam this June.

One new feature being added to the Steam release of the game is the ability to access the “Picture Gate,” which allows you to upload an image to be a character in-game. Oh, we  can only imagine some of the foul creatures some of you more scandalous gamers will come up with using this feature…

Originally released on the Xbox One and later released on the PlayStation Vita, Sword City’s story begins with a bang – literally. After surviving a mysterious plane crash, the game’s protagonist awakens in an alien world bathed in the light of unfamiliar stars. Shortly after regaining consciousness, players discover they’ve been transported Escario, the City of Swords. It’s here that you discover that many others have fallen into the dimensional gap, ending up in this strange and perilous world as well. Dubbed Strangers, these humans have capabilities far beyond those of Escario’s inhabitants, allowing them to master heavy weapons and armor with unmatched ease. Given their unique talents, Strangers are tasked with tracking down ravenous monsters called Lineage Types and defeating them in order to keep the denizens of Escario safe, and harvest the precious Blood Crystals these foes possess.

We really enjoyed our time with Stranger of Sword City when we reviewed the Vita and Xbox One versions of the game earlier this spring saying, “Stranger of City may stumble in a few areas, such as the recycled character portraits and a story that feels almost secondary due to some relatively weightless central characters, but these annoyances pale when compared to just how satisfying the rest of the journey is. Escario is a wide and uncompromising land, and you’ll want to scour every inch of its dungeons just to uncover all of its secrets. If you enjoyed Demon Gaze or Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, you’ll definitely findStranger of Sword City an adventure worth undertaking. The game’s lofty challenge will likely even appeal to fans of FromSoftware’s Souls series looking for something a bit different. If you’re looking for a dungeon crawler with some serious mileage and an unrivaled artistic design, Stranger of Sword City absolutely deserves a place in your Vita collection.”

So, will you be picking up Stranger of Sword City when it lands on Steam this June? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below. We’ll be sure to keep you posted when more details on the game’s PC release as they are revealed.
