Metro City’s super hero Vortex is just what you’d want in a protector, but there is only one problem, he’s dead. The city’s gangs have decided to join forces and outnumber Vortex, ultimately killing him so they can continue their criminal ways freely. Now with no protector the city’s crime rate has grown so rapidly that crime lords are fighting amongst each other over control of parts of the city. Taking full advantage of all the crime lords being distracted, a villain who goes by the name Sutekh swoops in and takes control of all the gangs rolling them into one. Now it’s time for a new super hero to take the reins and find a way to rid Metro City of Sutekh. Enter Nightshade!
With the recent success of point and click adventure remasters Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle, I can totally see Nightshade getting the same treatment. A glossy HD remaster could be all this title needs to win the hearts of gamers today as it did in 1992. Nightshade has a bit of action-adventure gameplay also going for it, and that could push it into even further popularity considering point and clicks can get a bit stale. The game’s humor would of course have to remain intact as well as the “popularity meter” that would drop or rise depending on whether or not Nightshade performed good deeds. Publisher Ultra Games is now Defunct but I’m sure the Nightshade name must be up for grabs. I’m looking at you Double Fine…
