Final Fantasy Composer Retracts Claims Of Final Fantasy XII “Remake”

Roth claims Final Fantasy XII “remake” remark made “in error”

Final Fantasy XII

Last night we reported that that Final Fantasy composer Arnie Roth announced that a “remake” of Final Fantasy XII was in the works at a recent Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Today, Roth retracted his previous statement, saying the term “remake” was used “in error”. However, he stopped short of denying that Square Enix has plans for Final Fantasy XII down the road, making it seem, as expected, that we’ll likely see the game in a remastered state sometime in the future.

Here’s Arnie Roth’s full statement from the official Final Fantasy Distant Worlds Facebook page:

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh.

Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.
