Y’know, the sequel the game Shulk was in before Shulk was in Smash Bros.
At their E3 live event today, Nintendo showed yet another trailer for MonolithSoft’s upcoming RPG Xenoblade Chronicles X. The sequel to the Wii and New Nintendo 3DS’ critically-acclaimed RPG masterpiece Xenoblade Chronicles, and the origin point for Shulk, who later came to Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles X has made its way to 3 E3 shows in a row. What’s different this year is that we finally have a western release date. It’s finally time to voyage from the ruined Earth to a brand new world, Monado Drive in hand and adorable Nopon by our sides.
The new trailer shows plenty of action and beauty, reminding us that Xenoblade Chronicles X is a wonderful showcase of what the Wii U is truly capable of. Most of what we’ve seen at this point feels interchangeable with everything ELSE we’ve seen, and it’s nice to know that this winter, the game will finally have actually released, so we can stop talking about it, and theorizing how in the hell the plot from the original Xenoblade Chronicles leads to the story setup of this new adventure. We know the game is set to be enormously big, taking the size of Xenoblade Chronicles and multiplying it by 5. Let it be remembered that the size of Xenoblade Chronicles consisted of two enormous colossi with myriad environments growing on their giant bodies, enough that multiple civilizations live on their vast and decomposing corpses. Now we get the equivalent of TEN such giants, each with their own stunning landscapes, so it’s safe to say that the world of Xenoblade Chronicles X will be quite something to behold.
Stay tuned for more Nintendo coverage as it comes! Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out on December 4th.
