New screens showcase Halo 5: Guardians’ Warzone Mode’s multiplayer carnage
Microsoft and developer 343 Industries today released a fresh batch of E3 2015 screenshots from Halo 5: Guardians. The 15 new screens offer an up close look at the game’s newly-revealed Warzone mode, which aims to strike a balance between the series’ fan-favorite competitive multiplayer mode and the single player campaign experience.
Warzone mode functions much like a massive training simulation. In this mode two teams of 12 players work to defend their bases from the opposing team, as well as hordes of A.I. enemies. The sense of scale in Warzone is stunning, as teams of 24 human players compete against upwards of 50 computer-controlled units in massive maps that dwarf the landscapes seen in previous series entries.
As for the visuals themselves, the jump in visual fidelity is abundantly clear in this go around, with Spartans sporting stunningly detailed armor as they wreak havoc through vibrant alien landscapes. We also get a glimpse of returning vehicles, such as the nimble Ghost, all-around workhorse the Warthog, and the high-flying Banshee.
Halo 5: Guardians launches exclusively on the Xbox One on October 27. Stay tuned for more details on the Master Chief’s explosive space opera as they become available.
