It’s been nearly twenty years since Final Fantasy VII released on the PlayStation, and for the past decade fans have been clamoring to see Squaresoft’s landmark role playing game reborn with cutting edge tech. Well, after many years and a handful of heartless teasers from the folks at Square Enix, all of that waiting has apparently paid off.
Today during the Sony E3 conference it was confirmed that Final Fantasy VII will indeed be getting a true remake, and it will be making its debut on the PlayStation 4.
The painfully brief footage shown from Sony’s E3 event featured protagonist Cloud Strife slowly strolling through the industrial city of Midgar, Buster Sword in tow, along with a message confirming that this indeed is not a teaser, but an actual Final Fantasy VII remake.
So, bet you didn’t see that one coming. While no release date has been made available at this time, we’re sure the series’ loyal fans will be counting the days until this long-awaited remake finally sees the light of day on the PlayStation 4.
