Namco Ups Their Arsenal For Time Crisis 5

Here’s a glimpse at Time Crisis 5’s massive hand cannon

Namco’s Time Crisis series has been allowing arcade gamers to sling hot lead at the evil terrorist Mad Dog and his gang of gun-toting mercenaries for the better part of the past two decades. While light gun games have always been a staple of the arcades ever since their inception, the Time Crisis series’ signature Guncon controllers have long since been the sidearm of choice of arcade ammoheads.

With the North American debut of Time Crisis 5 just a few weeks away, a Dave & Busters insider going by Butchner has posted a picture on Reddit offering an up close look at the latest killing machine in Namco’s burgeoning arsenal.

Sporting some serious heft, the jet-black sidearm looks a far cry more serious than the bright blue and pink pistols that have adorned previous entries in the series. Notice the big red button on the side? That’s for swapping between your pistol, shotgun, and grenades on the fly.

Previously released in Japanese arcades back in March, Time Crisis 5 will begin arriving in North American Dave & Busters locations in mid-May. The latest entry in the series features the familiar pedal-dodge mechanic of previous games, but also implements a second pedal, which allows players to flank enemies who are in cover.
