Capcom and Six Flags Collaborate on “Goliath” Coaster

Capcom is teaming up with Six Flags to temporarily re-fit the park’s Goliath coaster with Monster Hunter themes, starting with a traveling Caravan Tour which will be stopping at Six Flags Magic Mountain for two days: March 28 and 29.

The coaster will be fitted with one dedicated train designed to look like the Gore Magala monster — perhaps the most prominent baddies in the most recent game — due to the fact that Monster Hunter 4 is the first game in the series to feature such verticality, such as the ability to “mount” monsters. In addition, the park will feature a demo of Monster Hunter 4 in their Cyber Cafe, as well as Monster Hunter-themed merchandise for sale.

For the first two days of the attraction, visitors will “be immersed in the world of Monster Hunter with a custom setting that recreates the look and feel of the traveling Caravan from the game. They will also be able to meet up to play the game with fellow hunters and Capcom staff on those days.”

This is a super weird thing. I guess when Monster Hunter is as big as Monster Hunter is, you just gotta throw more money at it. The custom theme runs from March 28 to August 10.

Adam has a penchant for strong, minority opinions, and loves Mass Effect, JRPGs, and the Warriors games -- sometimes perhaps a bit too much. He will defend Final Fantasy XIII to his grave, and honestly believes people give Dragon Age II too much flak.
