Hardware giant moves over 4 million units this holiday season
Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 4’s worldwide sales have surpassed 18.5 million. 4.1 million of those units, were sold during the holiday shopping season.
Shawn Layden, of SCEA has stated that the PS4’s sales were on track to outpace the PlayStation 2. Claiming, “this generation has grown faster, further, wider, broader than any other game generation in the past. PlayStation 4 is leading that entire charge in next-gen.”
While the Xbox One out sold the PS4 in the US last November, PlayStation has stayed on top for nearly a year straight. At that point, Layden stated that PlayStation 4 had shipped 13.5 million consoles to stores.
Sony has also revealed subscription plans for the PlayStation Now service. Also, apologizing for the PlayStation Network outages with rewards to its affected users.
