While the Sony Playstation may be most fondly remembered as being the most successful of the 32-bit consoles to release in the mid-’90s, setting the stage for Sony’s meteoric rise as a console heavyweight, it’s also the home for some of the most memorable opening cinematics ever to grace videogame console. By eschewing cartridge-based media, Sony’s grey gaming juggernaut used the extra space afforded by the CD medium to produce some truly memorable introduction sequences that stuck with an entire generation.
