Can I get a whoop whoop?
That’s right, you read that correctly! Earlier today, Nintendo released a video detailing information on their Smash 4 invitational promo. A lot of information was given, but what really stands out… is this beauty…
If you didn’t see that, here it is again.
Nintendo has finally started listening to the fans, and the information given today proves that. Not only did they address the Smash Competitive scene directly, but they have given the players the Smash Holy Grail; the ability to use Gamecube controllers.

Along with the announcement of this adapter, they include mention of a handful of the best Smash players around the world, who are all invited to the Smash Invitational featured at E3 on June 10th. It’s nice to see Nintendo paying attention to one of then biggest competitive scenes in the world.
No release date was announced on the adapter, but Nintendo did promise it will be out in time for the Wii u release of the game. Now, what I personally hope that it will release sooner than that. There has been many things that people have been requesting to be on the Wii U since it’s release, but one that is heard more than any other request is a Gamecube Virtual Console on the Wii U. With the release of this adapter, that is now a possibility. With that in mind, we may see an announcement this E3 for a Gamecube virtual console.
