Killzone: Shadow Fall to Get Online Co-op Mode in June

Sony and Guerilla Games announced today that Killzone: Shadow Fall will be getting a dose of online cooperative-shooter action with the new Intercept expansion.

Set to be released in June, this new expansion places you and up to three of your Playstation 4 compatriots on the elite VSA team dubbed “Intelligence Squad Alpha”. Operating behind Helghan lines, your team must intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters.

In order to successfully complete your objective, your army of four will need to work together with their unique combat roles- from CQB to mid-to-long range Marksman roles and supportive Medic and Tactician classes- to beat back the Helghast so that the squad can successfully transmit the valuable combat data back to the Vectan forces headquarters.

One exciting aspect of the Intercept DLC is the enemies themselves are no longer simple cannon fodder. Just like the VSA, the Helghan forces also have their own distinct combat roles and objectives in their assault against your  VSA squad. The iconic gas mask-donning foes  will switch up tactics and angles of attack when they capture one of the maps satellite Uplinks, so your squad will need to adapt your defense strategy accordingly to counter their offensive. In addition to the standard Helghast forces, your enemy can also call on special elite Helghast champions that feature unique and powerful abilities to give their forces the upper hand. These familiar foes are based on key characters from the Shadow Fall single-player campaign.

As if the new cooperative experience weren’t enough to round out this new bit of DLC, Interceptor also features four new arena maps based on the game’s single-player campaign.

Killzone: Shadow Fall- Interceptor will be free for Season Pass owners in June, with the standalone version of the expansion making its way to retail later this year.
