But why didn’t they call it the Newya? We may never truly know the answer to this endlessly haunting question, but regardless. If you’ve been holding out on buying an Ouya, what with the talk of it’s internet issues, fairly small storage, and less-than-fantastic controller, the time to buy may be now. The new model pictured above is a brand new 16 GB Ouya, twice the storage of the original 8 GB model. A limited edition white Ouya was previously made available with as much storage, but only now has the doubled capacity been brought to the masses.
In addition to 16 GB of storage, this new $129 model also boasts improved internet capability. Connectivity issues and problems with the Ouya’s game store were prominent with the original $99 model, so here’s hoping this new model follows through on those improvements. The new model also includes a “refined” controller, in response to the complaints some players had with the original model.
This new black edition Ouya costs $129. The original silver model can still be purchased for $99. Both can be found on the Ouya’s official website, or at Gamestop.
