Today, Square Enix, Inc. of America announced the release date of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD for the PS3. The beautiful remaster will launch on March 18th, 2014 for the price of $39.99. A Vita release date with be announced soon.
Final Fantasy X was originally released in the states almost twelve years ago, during December of ’01. It made for a great Christmas gift, and it quickly became one of the best RPGs of the time. The game received critical acclaim by all sources, due to the game’s amazing visuals, wonderful storytelling, and likeable characters. In just a little over two years, it had sold over 6.6 million copies. Following the success of Final Fantasy X, Square (who had not yet merged with Enix at the time) quickly began development of a sequel, featuring the first game’s female protagonist Yuna. While the game didn’t receive as much acclaim as it’s predecessor, it still sold quite a bit, thanks to it’s quirky storytelling and ability to keep things from getting too serious. Both games are an obvious choice for an HD remake, so the decision was made and Square Enix began work on remastered versions of the two games.
The remastered set come with additional content that has never seen the states. The first is a 14-minute long video known as ‘Eternal Calm’ that showcases the events that happen between the two games. The other is known as Last Mission, which is content for X-2. It contains two new dress spheres, an additional mission, and it even allows the player to capture FFX monsters and characters, such as Tidus, Auron, and Seymour.
As an added incentive to pre-order this amazing package, you will automatically receive a free upgrade to Limited Edition, which will have alternative cover art featuring Yuna and Tidus, and a Concept Art package. The Concept Art will only be available to those who pre-order.
Along with the release date, Square Enix released a new trailer and more screenshots for our viewing pleasure, so enjoy!
