Watermelon is Seeking to Hire Pixel Artists for New AAA Genesis/SNES Title

Watermelon, the studio behind the wildly praised 2010 indie Genesis title Pier Solar is looking to hire pixel artists for an upcoming AAA Sega Genesis/Mega Drive or Super Nintendo game. According to a post on the company’s website, they plan on acquiring new talent for a new project adding, “We want you to join our team and be a part of the biggest thing happening in retro gaming.”

Sounds like good news for 16-bit aficionados itching for another taste of sprite-based goodness from the talented studio. The team at Watermelon certainly lets their love for those bygone systems show, as Pier Solar proved to be one of my favorite RPGs of the past few years, featuring effects that even the biggest developers of the early ’90s never managed on Sega’s hardware.

No word yet on what exactly what Watermelon has up their sleeve, but anyone experienced with pixel art who wants to be a part of the project’s development can fill out an application here.
