Today Atlus has finally made available their critically acclaimed RPG Persona 2: Eternal Punishment on the Playstation Network.
Originally released in 1999, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is the sequel to Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Taking place in an alternate version of Sumaru City where nothing is as it seems and rumors have the power to shape reality, Eternal Punishment puts you in the shoes of Maya Amano, writer for the teen magazine “Coolest”, who has been sent to investigate a rash of serial murders perpetrated by an illusive killer called “The Joker”. After what was supposed to be just another day on the job becomes a front row seat to horror, Maya’s Persona is awakened and she is thrust into the heart of a struggle where the very fate of the world lies in the balance.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment features a unique battle system where players can opt to communicate with demons to negotiate for Tarot cards or contracts, which can be used to help fuse new and more powerful Personas, allowing you to overcome the game’s numerous dungeons and challenging boss encounters. Eternal Punishment also allows you to use rumors to shape the world around you. Want to start a rumor that the local barkeep is a secret underworld weapons dealer? Go for it, and you can order a nice cache of armaments with your next martini.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is now available at the PSN store for $9.99, well worth the price of admission for this superb occult adventure.
