Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he has been tapped to play the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie.
In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, the actor and former recording artist confirmed his role as the treasure hunting adventurer Nathan Drake, and that the film’s script is being written by David O. Russel. Russel and Walhberg worked together on the 1999 film The Three Kings.
Marky Mark also confirmed that his new Funky Bunch will be rounded out with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, who will be playing his father and uncle respectively in the film. Wahlberg said that Russel had hopes of getting the stars of Casino and Goodfellas for roles in the movie.
The choice of Marky Mark stepping into the shoes of Nathan Drake has already caused some rumblings among fans on the internet. A quick search of Twitter shows an overwhelming majority of fans bitter about the choice, who would have much rather seen actor Nathan Fillion play the role of Nathan Drake.
