Star Wars: The Old Republic’s New Expansion Looks Pretty Alright

I really like Star Wars: The Old Republic. I played it quite a lot when it came out, and am currently patching it again with plans to resubscribe tomorrow afternoon. That’s why I’m really excited that Galactic Strongholds is coming out — player housing is coming to SWTOR.

The expansion is completely free, just like the Galactic Starfighter expansion. Current subscribers will gain access to it two whole months early on June 24, with “preferred” players (those who bought the game, but do not have an active subscription) gaining access a little over a month after that.

I was pretty sure Star Wars was all about lasers, but apparently they’re keen on bullet points too, because there’s a list of them on the Galactic Strongholds portion of the website.

  • Invite Your Friends – Show off your latest collection to friends as you take a moment to relax before your next big adventure.
  • Gain Prestige – Increase your character’s “Prestige Score” each time you add a decoration to your Stronghold – earn top ranking on the public Stronghold Directory and make a name for yourself among the galaxy’s elite.
  • Legacy Stronghold Storage – Unlock access to a new type of storage that is shared across your entire Legacy!
  • I’m definitely going to play this, especially since they’re doling out bonus Cartel Coins (the premium currency) for subscribing from now until the expansion’s launch.

Here’s the full Press Release that’s on The Old Republic’s website: http://www.swtor.com/info/news/press-release/20140319
