Persona is one of those series I always heard a lot about from JRPG fans far more die-hard than I. It’s just one of those names, y’know? Only last year did I finally experience the mad wonder that was Persona 4 on the PS2, and boy was I hooked. Now, after countless months of waiting, Atlus has released a teaser for the highly-anticipated beast that is Persona 5, as well as three more games. With Atlus, when it rains it pours. Let’s summon these demons!
Wow, look at all that telling information we got. Sure, we now know Persona 5 will be coming to Playstation 3 in Winter 2014 in Japan, but look how much else we know! For example, their mandatory color motif is red…and they have chairs…and the chairs are prisoners…you know, the more I write about this, the less I think this is interesting information at all. All that silliness non-withstanding, though, this is our first real visual confirmation that the game is coming. Demon taming high school students rejoice! But there’s more…
Hot a what babbahabit the what huh the what wait a second. What exactly is this? In addition to the expected Persona 5, Atlus also announced this unexpected title for 3DS, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. This game seems to be a crossover between the worlds of Persona 3 and 4, a connection long talked about by fans of the series. The game takes the much loved characters of both games, plus two new characters, and throws them all into a brand-new RPG adventure coming to 3DS on June 5th, 2014 in Japan. The game is directed by the director of Etrian Odyssey 4, and will be a similar dungeron-crawler game.
And then there’s this. In a collaboration with Dingo, the creators of Project Diva, Persona 4: Dancing All Night was announced for PS Vita. If you saw the troubled teenager characters of Persona 4 and said “you know what would make these characters feel better? Some god damn dancing.” then this is the game for you. P4: Dancing All Night launches in August 2014. Moving on…
Finally, get ready to lead your demons back into the arena! Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold is the ridiculously-named sequel to last year’s critically-acclaimed Persona 4 Arena. The game features some new characters, and will be sure to be a continuation of the fighting action fans loved thoroughly last year. The game is set to launch on November 28th, 2014 in Japan.
So of these four titles, which are you most excited for? If you answer the dancing game, there might be something wrong with you, but I digress. Let us know in the comments!
