NIS America has announced today in a press release that the company will be partnering with XSEED Games/Marvelous USA, Inc. to publish Ys: Memories of Celceta, the latest entry in developer Nihon Falcom’s beloved role playing game series, slated for release on the Playstation Vita in early 2014.
Ys: Memories of Celceta revisits the cast and setting of the Japan-exclusive fan favorite Ys IV: Dawn of Ys, but Memories of Celceta isn’t a mere retelling of the 1993 PC Engine classic, it features an all-new story of intrigue and conspiracy. Developer Nihon Falcom has also incorporated the popular party-based battle system from Ys SEVEN with a few notable improvements such as enhanced Flash Guarding and more versatile AI for your companions in arms, revamping the action for this Vita-exclusive adventure. Falcom also promises that Ys: Memories of Celceta will feature the largest overworld the series has seen, ensuring players will have plenty to see and do while battling the everpresent forces of evil.
Additionally, players just looking to challenge a host of big baddies can run the gauntlet of fearsome adversaries in the Boss Rush Mode, which is sure to keep Adol and company busy long after the game’s main adventure has come to a close.
Stay tuned for more information on Ys: Memories of Celceta as it becomes available. For now, check out the boatload of concept art from the game in the gallery below.
