Remember the glory that was River City Ransom? Yeah? Yeah you do. I can see you reflexively clenching your fists, grinding your teeth, heart beating faster by the mere mention of the name. You want more of this classic, don’t you? DON’T you? DON’T YOU?
Wait, what? What shining jewel is that? As we featured in our Kickstarter Watch series a couple weeks back, the classic beat-em-up is getting an official licensed revival, courtesy of Conatus Creative. River City Ransom Underground is a new-age sequel to the 80s brawler, and recently reached its funding goal at long, bruised, sweaty last.
That’s right! River City Ransom Underground will be coming out for Windows, as well as Mac and Linux if they reach their stretch goal. Wait, stretch goal? You mean the Kickstarter is still going? That’s right. This call-to-hairy-muscley-arms still has two days left to raise money, meaning you can still not only support this project at the ground level, but get some sweet, sweet stuff out of it. That’s all you wanted, right? Happiness and health be damned, you’re an American. A consumer. You want STUFF. And stuff ye shall receive. Rewards go from a simple digital copy of the game to physical game soundtrack, T-shirt, poster, and an NES-style box and cartridge label, so you can turn that shitty licensed Home Alone NES game sitting in the back of your closet into something that has actual worth! There are plenty of stretch goals as well, as the team would love to see Mac, Linux, and console releases for the game! So put some extra flow their way, big guy! Soon you’ll be running around River City, bashing in skulls once again!
